Despite I’m a big fan of cars, engines and anything with wheels that makes noise in general, I always thought that Le Mans stands only for the famous 24 hours Race, but it turned out to be also a resistance championship under the umbrella of Le Mans Race on route all around the world: the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (ILMC). And it would stop at Zhuhai’s International Circuit!
Zhuhai turns out to have an auto racing circuit of its own, which tries to compete with Shanghai’s International Circuit, attracting more and better competitions on its tracks every year through modern installations and cheaper costs.
These sports racing cars gave an absolutely amazing show roaring their engines non-stop for 6 long hours, trying to complete more laps during the time limit. There it was teams for Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, Lotus, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin and even a Japanese University and a Chinese team, with cars of their own…!
I managed to sneak into the balcony over the pit lane, getting these nice and clear pictures of the cars in the pit lane.
And even I’ve got to be almost on the racetrack! Security guys were really fast though, and pulled me out…
Chinese pilots were cheered by the crowd and widely announced by the local media, weeks before the race, as a “triumph and proof of the Chinese new steps towards harmonious engine competition“. Or something like this. Chinese have their very own way when expressing anything.
And as the cherry on top, here an Aston Martin with license to kill getting out of the pit lane:
